My first experience with playing ultimate frisbee on a regular basis comes from summer 2020 at IST Austria. This sport eventually became my main non-scientific hobby, predominantly thanks to the community surrounding it in Cambridge – be it at a college level, a university level or a club level. These days, I enjoy ultimate frisbee with the amazing community in Passau. Since Autumn 2025, I am one of the two coaches of the local university and town teams.

That I am now on a scientific path is highly thanks to high school times at Gymnázium Jana Keplera. I have been extremely fortunate to learn from and be inspired by many wonderful teachers and peers, and later also from university professors. I find meaning in learning and in helping others reach understanding, and hope to pass on at least a fraction of the positive influence that those who inspired (and inspire) me had (have) on me.

I was also lucky to be encouraged to participate in various scientific competitions. Now that I no longer participate, and having seen their potential to support students’ curiosity and bring like-minded young people together, I still try to contribute to some of them. My contribution mostly concerns linguistic olympiads (see the relevant tab). As another example, I was a helper at a few instalments of the team mathematical competition Náboj: first in Prague (2018, 2019), later in Cambridge (2024).

To mention a couple of results from high school times that do not appear elsewhere on the page:

I used to be an active chess player. Highlights include five top ten (among them a 3rd place in 2012) finishes at the European Union Youth Chess Championship (2007–2012), becoming the Czech U16 champion (2014) and obtaining the title of Fide Master (2015).
